Florida 2012 – Day 14 (Friday 8th June 2012

We woke up early today, think the thought of travelling was unsettling. Had breakfast and packed the final few things. We drove to Miami, via a gas station and the slowest Burger King I have ever been in!

The aim was to go to Johnny Rockets on Ocean Drive, but like we thought, the road was busy with no parking. We saw the posh island where I expect the likes of Simon Cowell etc live. Miami is very beautiful the art deco buildings make it very characteristic. We decided to head to the airport earlier than planned. Dropped the car off at the Alamo returns and got the monorail to the terminal.

Check in didn’t open until 1415 and we were there at 1330. So a bit of a wait. After this we went through security, had one of these body scanners done again like Vegas. When we were all through we went to the departure gate. It was pretty small. It had a small duty free, a newsagent, bar, pizza hut and Burger King. We got a burger king then me and Ken sat at the bar while mum and Vicky checked duty free. $14 for 2 Buds! So only had one. The bar was busy with Russians who were watching there opening Euro 2012 game against Czech Republic, which they won 4-2. The Russians literally left the bar at the final whistle which was the final call for there flight.

We spent our final $23 on a M&M dispenser.

The flight was delayed about 45 minutes due to a thunderstorm over head, do the runway was closed. We boarded and took off at the revised time.

We landed on Saturday 9th June 2012 at about 0810. Some turbulence during the flight. Watched the Best exotic Marigold Hotel and had some sleep. I weirdly got bitten a few times.Had Beef and dumplings for dinner. The breakfast wasn’t so good. Powdered scrambled egg, bacon, sausage, cherry tomato and mushrooms. Not the best….

After we eventually found our taxi roamiy about outside the drop off point we were home by about 10am. Abby was here so Vicky gave her Hello Kitty presents to her. Then we had a 3 hour sleep before tucking into a roast watching Holland v Denmark.

A truly amazingly good holiday. Thanks to mum and Ken for the time we had.
